Roman Holiday

Ann Taylor Sweater (Similar here and here)

I've been getting a few inquires on how to dress down tall gladiator sandals. Honestly, the easiest way to style these shoes is to wear them with a really simple dress that matches the color of your shoes. Going for a monochromatic look will modernize the outfit and prevent you from looking like a Roman soldier. The sandals are a statement piece, so you want to accessorize minimally and let the shoes shine. I actually opted for a much more casual look to show you guys how wearable these can be. Just be careful of staying out in the sun for too long. You don't want to have all these crazy tan lines.

As you might already suspect, this post is indeed dedicated to the 1953 film classic, "Roman Holiday," starring Audrey Hepburn. Guess who designed the costumes? It's none other than legendary, Edith Head. Here's the original sketch of the opening scene.

The classic 50s silhouette can never go out of trend, but look closely and you'll see Audrey Hepburn sporting gladiator sandals. I actually never thought of pairing a classic silhouette with sandals, but it really worked for this film.

Audrey Hepburn never failed to disappoint in her classic style and I think we all have a thing or two to learn from her. Don't you think?

Love,

Maggie S.
