There's nothing I love more than a classic leather jacket. It immediately toughens any overly feminine outfit, yet adds an instant cool factor to any plain ensemble. Did you know that the leather jacket was born out of necessity for aviators during the first World War? Then, Irving Schott and his brother created the iconic Perfecto style in 1928. The leather was very thick and durable, therefore making it very desirable for motorcycle gangs because it helped protect motorcyclists in the event of accidents. I guess you can assume why it still holds that "tough" image till now.

As we transition to Spring, be on the lookout for sales on leather jackets. There are 3 classic leather jackets that will never go out of style.

The first jacket I think is the most modern updated version of the leather moto jacket. This one has more of a blazer-cardigan-like feel to it and instead of evoking a tough image, it exudes class and elegance.

The Topshop jacket is really the most classic one of all and will, honestly, never go out of style. It's the one that looks the toughest and will probably draw the most attention.

The 3rd one is a variation of the 2nd jacket. Instead of having lapels,  it has more of a mandarin collar. If you're looking for less of an edgy moto jacket, this would probably be your best bet.

Of course, you don't have to buy the exact ones I have listed. If you're unsure of investing into a leather jacket, start off with a vegan leather one that's made of polyurethane. You can customize it and add studs and safety pins without hesitation. One thing that really sets apart the older, more dated leather jackets is the fit and cut. When you visit your local thrift store, you'll see leather jackets, but they're usually very boxy and not very flattering at all. The 80s and 90s didn't have a flattering silhouette so it's going to be really tough in finding a jacket that's going to fit the modern slim fitted fashion style.

I do strongly think that these 3 silhouettes are not going to go out of style any time soon, so if you're thinking of investing in one, buy it before the summer. The prices of leather starts to go up since stores will be transitioning to Fall and leather is in high demand during this time of the year.

I was going to do a movie costume post, but my entry is already quite long. Do you guys mind the super long posts or would rather it be short and sweet? Let me know in the comments below! I'd love to hear from you guys.

Love,

Maggie S.
